Global Tech I Offshore Wind GmbH has appointed Thomas Maetzel as its new Chief Financial Officer. With effect from 1st April, he assumed the responsibility for the commercial and corporate aspect of the North Sea wind farms.
He replaces Dr. Thomas Meerpohl, who Iis taking over the position of Head of Strategy and Group Management at the Stadtwerke Munich. In his role as a partner, he remains closely connected to the Global Tech I project.
His managing activity with Global Tech I will stop after the transitional phase. The technical director is Arjen Schampers, who is responsible for the construction and operation of offshore wind farms.
Around 100 people work directly for the project company Global Tech I Offshore Wind GmbH, which operationally implements the wind farm, independently from the shareholder structures. The wind area is equipped with 80 wind turbines of the 5 MW class and its total capacity is 400 megawatts. Construction work was carried out in August 2012. According to the current plans, the Global Tech I will be completed in spring 2014.
