Energy advisors, Douglas-Westwood, will be presenting at All-Energy 2013, in Aberdeen, May 22nd. Frank Wright, Renewable Energy Manager, will be outlining findings of the soon to be released Offshore Wind Market Forecast, giving a global overview of the industry through to 2022.
Mr. Wright will be providing a global overview of the offshore wind sector as part of the offshore wind session titled “Current State of Play – and the Way Forward”. During his talk, Mr. Wright will present a summary of Douglas-Westwood’s most recent market forecasts including coverage of new capacity, related capital expenditure, demand for wind turbines and requirements for installation vessels.
“For many countries, including the UK and Germany, offshore wind is a key component in the future electricity generation mix,” commented Mr. Wright. “To date, the UK market has been the main driver of growth, with many important lessons learned along the way. At the current time, we see increasing activity in Germany with a large amount of capacity set to come online in the near future. To enable growth in this new sector, a new manufacturing supply chain is slowly developing and, at the same time, valuable experience and additional supply chain capacity from the offshore oil & gas sector is being utilised.”
Mr. Wright’s talk will also highlight several key commercial issues including capital cost levels, risk factors, supply chain constraints and development of new technology.
