FLiDAR NV, a JV company of OWA and 3E, has won the ITM Industrie Best Practice award for its floating LiDAR solution.
The jury selected FLiDAR for its ability to collect, process and commercialise highly accurate, low cost offshore wind data. FLiDAR uses the latest laser technology and motion compensation to drive down the costs of data collection and accelerate the deployment of offshore wind farms.
FLiDAR NV was established less than nine months ago, with the support of IWT, the Flemish agency for innovation, and is already preparing to deploy its first commercial project. A device will be shipped to the UK in the coming weeks for use on an offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea for DONG Energy, the Danish utility company and global leading offshore wind player.
