The Government of India, through its Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has prepared a draft policy for offshore wind energy sector called Draft National Offshore Wind Energy Policy ‒ 2013 .
This MNRE envisages to develop offshore wind energy in the country in a directed and focused manner.
An Offshore Wind Energy Steering Committee (OWESC) has been constituted under the chairmanship of Secretary, MNRE associating the stakeholder Ministries/Departments to suggest the draft offshore wind energy policy.
Draft National Offshore Wind Energy Policy – 2013 has been prepared based on the inputs of the OWESC.
In order to address the concerns and meet the expectations of widest possible spectrum of stakeholders and general public, the draft policy is opened for public comments and suggestions.
