Twenty-five offshore wind farms have been approved in the German North Sea, with a total of more than 1,350 turbines and a capacity of over 5,600 megawatts.
The design of an offshore wind turbine (OWT) and structure of the foundations plays a crucial role in the realization of offshore wind farms in water depths of up to 45 meters. This creates challenges for engineers, especially in the areas of design and installation of support structures.
In that context, a two-day seminar on “Offshore Wind Energy – Design and Installation of Support Structures in the North Sea” will be held on 10 and 11 September 2013 in Bremerhaven, covering both basic and specialized knowledge on this particular subject.
The focus of the two-day seminar, to be led by Prof. Dr. Peter Schaumann (ForWind, Leibniz University Hannover, Institute for Steel Construction), will be put on the Grout-connection technology, the design of foundation structures, the structural behavior of the foundations, new foundation types (XXL monopile) and modeling of the support structures for offshore wind turbines. The theoretical fundamentals of the individual issues will be complemented by the latest developments, as well as with advice from experiences from practice regarding WTG installations in the North Sea. Both the current situation and further developments in the industry will be taken into account and discussed in the panel of experts with the seminar participants by Prof. Dr. Schaumann.
During the seminar, a field trip to WeserWind will be organised, which will offer participants an insight into the production of offshore foundation structures.
