The yellow TP’s (transition pieces) stand tall on the quayside in Esbjerg and lying right next to them is the monopiles weighing 550 tons. All TP’s and monopiles was transported on a barge from Vlissingen, Holland to Esbjerg where Blue Water will handle the loading of components onto the installation vessel.
Blue Water Shipping has been nominated as stevedores on behalf of ABJV (Aarsleff Bilfinger Berger Joint Venture) who has the installation contract for the project and is one of the most experienced contractors in this type of work.
“It is an impressive sight standing next to these giants and in only a few days they will be installed offshore at location where they will be part of the DanTysk Offfshore wind farm for the next 20-30 years. 4 sets TP’s and monopiles at a time are loaded onto the installation vessel “Seafox 5” and later they are installed at position on the DanTysk offshore wind farm owned by Vattenfall. The wind farm is located on the maritime boarder between Denmark and Germany and once completed the 80 turbines will supply electricity equal to the consumption 400.000 households. DanTysk will be operated out of Esbjerg where all operations and maintenance activities are planned.
