Earlier today, the Dutch Coast Guard has received a report that the maintenance vessel ”Offshore Phantom“, which was located 25 kilometers offshore Egmond aan Zee at the Amalia offshore wind farm at the time, is on fire.
It was not clear whether the smoke was coming from the generator of from a real fire.
A lifeboat from Ijmuiden was dispatched with firefighting personnel to the site.
After an investigation conducted by the firefighting personnel it was concluded that the smoke was coming from the generator, and that there was no fire. The cause of this remains unknown.
The lifeboat from Wijk aan Zee is towing the maintenance vessel to the Ijmuiden.
The two crew members who were onboard “Offshore Phantom” are safe.
