OutSmart announced that Koen Baeten has joined the company as General Manager for the Belgian market. Baeten has over 10 years of experience in the wind energy sector, more specifically in the production of steel constructions for offshore wind.
Together with Baeten OutSmart hopes to support the Belgian market in the development of off- and onshore wind energy.
Baeten spent most of his wind career working for the Smulders Group: one of the biggest foundation producers for wind turbines. After fulfilling several functions in the steel- and building industry for the European market for over a decade (QA/QC Manager, Project Manager, Purchasing, Subcontracting), Baeten decided to rejoin the Smulders Group. He became Plant Manager and set up the Hoboken production facility, one of the pioneers in the fabrication of monopile foundations. Baeten worked as General Manager for several divisions of this company and has been involved in commercial aspects, as well in contract negotiations and project management.
With his new position at OutSmart, Baeten makes a switch in his career. “I am very pleased to become a member of the OutSmart team. This gives me the opportunity to explore offshore wind in a much broader perspective, in line with OutSmart’s primary goal to service to full life cycle of a wind project. Together with my new colleagues, who are all experienced professionals in their wide field of expertise, I am looking forward to service the Belgian market.”
