Coastline Surveys has been awarded a substantial contract at Seawork this week to carry out berth seabed and cable burial surveys for a European wave energy test site.

The company has invited Innovatum to provide its new Cougar XT ROV fully equipped with a magnetic cable tracking system to assist on the project. The ROV will be deployed from Coastline’s 24m survey vessel MV Flatholm, which also includes high resolution multibeam using R2Sonic 2024 and vibrocoring.

This is an exciting opportunity for the two companies to work together with some of the latest technology on one of the most innovative wave energy renewable projects in Europe.

Coastline Surveys is one of the oldest independent survey companies in the UK and is undertaking an aggressive programme of growth and development to meet the demands of the emerging offshore renewable energy markets both in the UK and abroad.

With recent contract awards in the renewables sector, including Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon Power, Navitus Bay and windfarms offshore East Anglia, Coastline is firmly establishing itself as a major force in the offshore sector.

In addition, the company has also recently launched Coastline Offshore, a new division designed to meet the demands of the offshore energy industry and is in the process of establishing a new office in Scotland to further enhance its services to the renewable markets.

Innovatum Ltd is a manufacturer and operator of the SMARTRAK magnetic cable and pipeline tracking systems for Depth of Bury, Subsea Cable and Pipeline Survey to the Renewable and Oil & Gas sectors, with an operating range from the beach to 3000m water depth.

Its survey division, Submagnetix, will be supplying a full survey spread to Coastline Surveys for this project which will include the survey suite, a Cougar XT ROV and a SMARTRAK 9 tracking system along with their own experienced operating technicians.
