The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities has voted against Fishermen’s Energy project off the coast of Atlantic City, writes Philly news portal.
The Fishermen’s Energy is planning to install 5 wind turbines with a total capacity of 25MW three miles off the coast.
The Board of Public Utilities noted that the main reason for this decision was the project’s cost.
BPU chairman Robert Hanna said: “Projects need to show additional jobs to offset the added cost.”
If approved this project will cost around USD 200 million and will produce enough electricity to power 10,000 homes.
