Petrofac has won a €40 million contract from Siemens Energy to provide support during the commissioning phase of two offshore wind converter station platforms in the German North Sea.

“The first wind turbines are standing,” said Klaus Horstick, Managing Director of Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum GmbH & Co. KG, thus marking a major milestone in 200MW Borkum West 2 offshore wind farm development.

Growing interest from Japan, Korean and China in the world’s windpower market has extended to the massive wind farm developments planned off the East of England.

EDF is inviting tenders for the cable trenching trials, as part of the development and the construction of offshore wind farms projects in France, in order to assess the performance of burial methods commonly used in the industry in the offshore wind farms sites of Fecamp, Courseulles sur Mer and Saint-Nazaire.

There have been a lot of negative messages lately about quality problems related to various foreign wind turbine manufacturers. This mostly comes as a result of constructing cheap parts and applying onshore technology to offshore wind turbines by majority of large energy companies.
