The port of Saint-Quay-Portrieux has been chosen by an advisory committee as maintenance port of the future wind farm in the Bay of Saint-Brieuc.

The port outclassed the towns of Saint-Cast-le-Guildo and Erquy, which had also submitted bids for the offshore wind project.

The port that won the project will be officially announced on 26th of September, in a vote of the General Council of the Cotes d’Armor. Nevertheless, yesterday afternoon, an advisory committee composed of elected officials, technical experts and Ailes Marines, the future operator of the site, voted in favor of Saint-Quay-Portrieux.

The selection criteria were very technical, with requirements for a minimum water depth of 2.50 meters, a 24/7 access for the arrivals and departures of construction vessels and specific dock infrastructure for the equipment.

Some 140 permanent working positions will be created, not counting project support jobs.
