Due to the U.S. government shutdown, Salem Sound Coastwatch was forced to prolong today’s “Climate Change in New England” lecture, which was supposed to be held at the National Park Service’s Visitor Center.
This is the second lecture in a row to be postponed after National Park Service’s Visitor Center closed.
Jonathan Parker of the Salem Maritime National Historic Site was scheduled to speak on 1 October on how climate change is affecting natural resources, while the Director of US Offshore Wind Collaborative Fara Courtney was supposed to speak at today’s lecture about status, progress and potential of offshore wind industry globally and in the Northeast.
Salem Sound Coastwatch in cooperation with the National Park Service has planned to hold another lecture on 15 October with Dr. Paul Kirshen, Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of New Hampshire, but if the federal government doesn’t resolve the budget issue until then, this event will be also prolonged.
