Areva issued its results for the first nine months of 2013 yesterday, which show that its renewable energy business is facing revenue decrease.
The company’s Renewable Energies Business Group ended the first nine months with a 26.6% decrease in revenue in comparison to the same period of 2012. The renewables revenue was up only in solar power, while that in biomass and offshore wind was down. The revenue in offshore wind business decreased due to the performance of the German projects Global Tech I and Borkum West II, which are now both in the turbine installation phase.
“In the Renewable Energies BG, revenue is below our Action 2016 plan outlook, mainly due to the current indecisiveness in the renewable markets,” Luc Oursel, Areva’s CEO, said.
During these nine months, Areva’s wind turbines have been selected for the French offshore wind project. Also, the first AREVA M5000 turbines entered the installation phase at offshore wind farms in the North Sea.
