The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) of Taiwan has signed construction agreements for two offshore wind farms.

Vice Economics Minister Duh Tyzz-jiun signed a contract with two companies agreed on the development of one wind farm off the coast of Miaoli County, and the other off the coast of Changhua County, by 2015, the Focus Taiwan news site informs. The installed capacity will be minimum 3,000 KW, and environmental impact assessments have already been conducted for these projects.

As Taiwan is pushing for wind power development, the country aims to install 300 MW by 2020, with 4 to 6 offshore wind test projects built by 2015 and then progressively build up to targeted installed wind capacity.
