Going offshore could be the answer for wind energy hiccups as getting planning permission for onshore wind farms becomes harder.
Solicitors Coles Miller warn that it’s getting harder to find onshore sites that are not covered by some form of planning protection.
Even though the offshore wind is one of the solutions, it also faces some difficulties such as marine currents, seabed issues, water depth etc.
RWE Innogy recently made a decision to drop the Atlantic Array project which would have involved siting 240 turbines off the coasts of North Devon and South Wales.
Another solution could be small domestic wind turbines which would be installed on UK homes.
