The UK Government will soon announce that it will reduce subsidies for solar power and onshore wind, in order to give more support to offshore wind development.
This move is a part of the new strategy on energy subsidizing from the Government, the BBC informs.
The most recent “strike prices” draft was published in June. However, UK Energy Minister Michael Fallon implied earlier this week that the policy will be modified. “Investment in renewables cannot be done at any price. It must be affordable for consumers. And the cost of that new investment needs to be spread more fairly, much more fairly,” he explained.
“I will be setting out ‘strike prices’ for renewables that will be good for consumers and attractive for investors,” Danny Alexander, Chief Secretary to the Treasury , announced this morning via social network.
