Even though not all wind turbines are spinning, EDF Energy Renewables, company behind Redcar offshore wind farm, claims that everything is developing according to their plan.

Spokesman from the company noted that these are still early days for the wind turbines and that service work in this stage is fairly standard, UK’s Gazette Live writes.

In spite of the fact that not all of 27 wind turbines are spinning even in the strong wind, the wind farm has generated “5% above our target since August and once this initial maintenance period has passed, we should continue to see increased and steady generation from the turbines.”

Regarding the rumors about the gas being formed within the structure, EDF spokesman said: “There appears to be an intermittent and low level discharge problem at some turbine locations.

“This is not unusual in offshore structures and can be caused by specific conditions where a volume of sea water is trapped at the base of the monopile.”

Redcar offshore wind farm is located just to the east of the mouth of the River Tees and 1.5 km north of Redcar, off the Teesside coast.
