South Wales based RenewableUK accredited safety training provider, Safety Technology Ltd, has been selected as an official trainer for the EU Skills’ new Low Carbon Energy and Marine Power Institute.
This new initiative, developed by EU Skills Cymru and part funded by the Welsh Government, has been established with the aim of providing a gateway for the Welsh Energy sector to approved quality training providers.
The new training infrastructure comes after a sector wide research exercise, undertaken by Miller Research, identified the training needs and priorities of employers within the Energy sector.
A selection of trusted training providers have been chosen by EU Skills to provide a collection of fully accredited courses, stretching from Marine Safety Skills to Electrical Engineering, with Safety Technology Ltd nominated to deliver training in Work at Height safety.
The training will focus on the development of skills for the installation, commissioning and operation of energy generation sites, as well as the distribution of energy to customers.
Raglan headquartered Safety Technology, a prominent member of RenewableUK, has a long history in delivering height safety training, products and services to the Utilities, Telecom and Renewables sectors.
Managing Director of the company, Bob Dickens , said on the news: “Safety Technology has been working closely with EU Skills Wales and the potential partners for over 12 months to help develop the LCE&MPI for Wales and in particular to have an EU Skills accreditation for the courses within this pilot.
“ We are very pleased with the high level of commitment and enthusiasm from EU Skills for this programme and are especially delighted to have been selected as the provider for the accredited Work at Height element of this programme. We are really looking forward to working on this project and the successful development of future programmes for the Renewables Industry.”
The newly developed Low Carbon Energy and Marine Power Institute will play a huge role in developing new skills for the current and future Energy workforce in Wales. Enabling employers access to subsidised training and tools to help identify and fulfil their own specific training needs.
The news of this selection tops off a great year for the Welsh safety company, with 2013 having seen them win the Wales Green Energy Award for their Contribution to Skills and Training, and being announced as project partners for the Energy Skills Partnership’s drive to deliver demand-led training to Scotland’s Wind Energy workforce.
