The Carbon Trust awarded a contract to Ecofys UK Ltd on December 19 for Technology Delivery Consultant (HVAC Optimisation) Study.

The study focuses on ways to optimise AC technology in relation to offshore wind farms. It includes consideration of matters such as the identification and review of issues and opportunities associated with AC transmission. What is more, the study will identify technologies that promote AC optimisation and will enable cost reduction.

Within its Offshore Wind Accelerator (OWA) programme, the Carbon Trust collaborates with offshore wind developers in order to reduce the cost of offshore wind energy by at least 10% by 2015.
