NASA Earth Observatory has released an image of the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the London Array, taken from space by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite.
The image was captured on April 28, 2013; twenty days after the wind farm became fully operational .
In April last year, the London Array broke the Guinness world record by becoming the largest wind farm worldwide. It supplies electricity to nearly half a million UK households and reduces more than 900,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
