HAROPA Port du Havre will get EUR 57 million to prepare for the development of offshore wind in the Le Havre area.
This agreement was signed on Tuesday, January 21, at the Grand Port Maritime du Havre, and marks a milestone in the offshore wind industry in the area.
In the fall of 2011, manufacturers announced the selection of Upper Normandy territory in France to anchor the offshore wind power industry developments. They expressed their willingness to establish manufacturing facilities for wind turbines components, as well as logistics and assembly sites at the port of Le Havre. This could pave the way for the creation of 2,000 jobs.
Significant investments must be made by the Grand Port Maritime du Havre (GPMH) to make the land available and suitable for the industrial facilities. For this purpose, GPMH requested financial support from the country, Upper Normandy Region, Agglomeration Community of Le Havre, the City of Havre and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Le Havre.
The land is scheduled to be available for industrial activities during 2015, and the completion of all work is expected in 2017.
