French President François Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel decided yesterday in Paris to strengthen the German-French cooperation in the field of energy policy.

“As the German-French exchange platform for the offshore industry, we support this decision,” said Mélanie Persem, Managing Director of the German-French renewables office (DFBEE) .

On the occasion of the second Franco-German Offshore Wind Conference that started today in Bremerhaven, Mélanie Persem and Managing Director of Wind Energy Agency (WAB) Ronny Meyer welcomed the political commitment of the German and French governments, and the cooperation between the two countries in creating a drive for the energy transition.

“The Franco-German offshore wind conference is a testament of the willingness of political and industrial leaders to find solutions for the offshore wind industry, and thus for the energy transition, through an intense international collaboration,” said Ronny Meyer.

Some 100 participants from France and Germany will be informed today about the offshore wind energy in the two countries. Lectures will be focused on regulatory framework, profitability and environmental impact of the industry. Tomorrow, on the second day of the conference, the event will be complemented with an excursion to offshore wind energy facilities in Bremerhaven.

The conference was jointly organized by the DFBEE and the WAB.
