RenewableUK has announced that at its Board Meeting of 25th February 2014, Julian Brown, AREVA Wind’s Country Director for the UK, and Chairman of Norstec, was elected as Chairman, succeeding previous incumbent Andrew Jamieson.

Jamieson served as Chairman since June 2010, and has stepped down from the RenewableUK Board of Directors due to increasing demands in his role as Chief Executive of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult.

Brown was elected as a member of the RenewableUK Board in June 2012, and has chaired Norstec, an industry partnership promoting the opportunities for offshore renewables in the Northern seas, since June 2013.

Brown commented: “Having enjoyed my role on the Board over the last 18 months, I’m delighted to take on the role of Chairman, to help to guide the industry through the period ahead, including the important challenges of moving to the Contracts for Difference system and the upcoming General Election. Working on the Board under Andrew Jamieson’s Chairmanship has been a great preparation for this, and I would like to pay tribute to his work.”

Maria McCaffery, Chief Executive of RenewableUK said: “Andrew Jamieson has been a superb Chairman, adeptly navigating the industry and Association through a period of intense change as he has served as a Director for over six and half years and Chairman for more than three and a half years. The Board and I have greatly valued his contribution and leadership, and understand the decision he has had to take as the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult ramps up its activity. I am delighted that the Board has chosen such an able and energetic successor, and look forward to working with him over such a crucial forthcoming period for the industry.”
