Some of the East of England’s leading fabricators in the energy sector will receive a major boost for the future in a new regional directory featuring their skills and specialties.

The guide was drawn up by EEEGR (the East of England Energy Group) and the Department of Energy and Climate Change over the course of last year.

“It’s an initiative to showcase the proud history our region has in fabrication in the energy sector and should help them win more business internationally,” said EEEGR chief executive Simon Gray.

“Our vibrant supply chain includes a number of fabricators, many of whom have specialist skills, equipment and resources built over the last 50 years of the region’s energy history.”

More than 25 regional companies from Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex are featured in the East of England Fabrication Directory 2014 which will be introduced at EEEGR’s SNS2014 Conference at the Norfolk Showground, Norwich, on Wednesday and Thursday next week (March 5-6).

It will be officially launched at an EEEGR House of Commons reception on May 13th.

The directory says that the East of England has the land, infrastructure, skills and supply chain expertise required to take advantage of the world’s largest energy engineering and fabrication requirements.

Many fabricators have access to the North Sea through ports with excellent quayside facilities, which are also listed and described in the directory.

“The East of England is unique in the country as it includes energy producers across a diverse range including nuclear, gas and renewables and is key to the UK in terms of keeping the nation’s power turned on,” said Mr Gray .

“This is often thought to be a region based on agriculture and tourism and many people are amazed to discover the breadth and depth of our capabilities in the energy industry.”

Further copies of the directory will be available at EEEGR’s Innovation Awards and summer conference on July 2nd & 3rd, 2014.

It will also be available as a PDF download from the EEEGR website .
