Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) welcomes the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s finding of economic impact study of the offshore renewable energy industry in the UK.
Calum Davidson, Director of Energy and Low Carbon at HIE, said: “There are significant opportunities presented by offshore renewables and the Highlands and Islands is well placed to capitalise on these. We look forward to continuing to work with the ORE Catapult in advancing innovation and technology development.”
According to the report, the UK economy could gain £6.7bn per year and 150,000 jobs by 2020 from the development of offshore renewable energy resources.
