A consortium led by GDF SUEZ, including EDP Renewables, Neoen Marine, and AREVA, has been recommended to the French government as a preferred developer of two French offshore wind farms, according to the country’s media.

The Regulatory Commission of Energy (CRE), an independent administrative body in charge of regulating the French electricity and gas markets, advised the government that the consortium should be selected to build 500MW of offshore wind energy off Le Tréport and another 500MW between the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier. However, this recommendation does not oblige the government to award the development to GDF SUEZ’s consortium.

The second bidder that wants to build these offshore wind farms is a consortium comprising EDF Energies Nouvelles, wpd offshore and Alstom.
