Developers of the Navitus Bay offshore wind project, Eneco Wind UK Ltd (Eneco) and EDF Energy Renewables, submitted an application for the Development Consent Order (DCO) to the Planning Inspectorate on April 10.

The Planning Inspectorate will review the application and decide whether or not to accept it by May 8. If the application is accepted, it will move into the pre-examination phase, which will allow the public to express their opinion on the project.

After this, the Planning Inspectorate will review the application together with the public input to make a decision on awarding the DCO.

The offshore wind farm would be located off the Dorset and Hampshire coasts, to the West of the Isle of Wight, and would generate enough low carbon electricity to power around 790,000 homes each year.

Navitus Bay Wind Park project’s size was recently scaled back to reduce visual impact.
