James Wright, a planner at Fife Council’s Department for Enterprise, Planning and Protective Services, has recommended that the North East Fife councillors support the Inch Cape offshore wind farm.

Furthermore, in a report to Fife Council’s North East Planning Committee, Mr. Wright has also identified areas that require additional assessment, including ecology and archaeology. He added that further consultation with the local fisheries industry should be carried out as well, The Courier informs.

A planning application was submitted to Marine Scotland in July 2013, which is also consulting Fife Council on the offshore wind project application.

The Inch Cape wind farm is being jointly developed by Repsol and EDP Renováveis SA. The project is located approximately 15-22 km to the east of the Angus coastline in Scotland, comprising up to 213 turbines. It will have an export capacity of 1,000 MW and a potential yield of over 3,000 GWh per year.
