Members of trade association Tourism Swansea Bay and Swansea Bay Business Club have voiced their support for a tidal energy project in the area.

The tourism association asked its members to express their opinion on the project, and there were no negative responses, the South Wales Evening Post writes.

After getting a very positive feedback, the Swansea Business Club also announced its official support for the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon project. As explained by the Club, the member companies are aware of the importance of clean power supply and the project’s economic benefits.

The planning application for the project was accepted by the Planning Inspectorate on March 6. Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon is currently in the pre-examination phase. The application is to be examined after the preliminary meeting, which will be held on June 10.

The lagoon has a 240 MW nominal rated capacity, enough to provide power to over 120,000 homes for 120 years.
