Tidal Lagoon Power has joined the Ocean Energy Europe association as its first tidal range member.

“The tidal lagoons are an exciting technology with a lot of potential and we hope to see them create jobs, growth and low carbon energy across Europe in the coming years. The Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project is the clear front runner in this area. We will look forward to working with Tidal Lagoon Power to push this technology up the EU agenda,” said Dr. Sian George, CEO of Ocean Energy Europe .

Based in Swansea Bay, on the southern coast of Wales, Tidal Lagoon Power brings together an experienced team specialising in renewable energy and major infrastructure delivery, with both UK and international projects experience.

Supported by leading independent experts contributing to the Environmental Impact Assessment, the team is developing the world’s first tidal lagoon based power plant.

The proposed Swansea Bay tidal lagoon project has the potential to generate clean, renewable and predictable power for over 155.000 homes for 120 years, while providing benefits in a wider range of issues and areas, such as local economic growth, job creation, tourism promotion, and beyond this, social inclusion and health benefits. The project would be the first in a series of tidal lagoon infrastructure projects planned by Tidal Lagoon Power.
