Dudgeon Offshore Wind Ltd and Great Yarmouth Port Company Ltd have signed an Agreement for Lease giving Dudgeon the right to 1,7 acres of land on South Denes Road, a warehouse on the demise and access to the river harbour quay.

The Lease will have an initial period of 25 years and will be exercised after Dudgeon Offshore Wind Ltd has made the financial investment decision.

This site, which will allow for 24 hour/7 day per week operations, will be the Dudgeon base for the operations and maintenance activity during the lifetime of the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm. The base will also be used during the offshore construction activities.

Through a combination of new build and modification of the existing warehouse Dudgeon Offshore Wind will create a purpose-designed operations and maintenance base featuring offices, marine logistic centre and warehouse. The work will be completed in time for the start of electricity generation early 2017.

After signing the agreement, Halfdan Brustad, Chairman of Dudgeon Offshore Wind Limited said:

“This location offers Dudgeon the flexibility to use a variety of different vessels and puts Dudgeon in position to use the best of vessels that might be qualified for use in offshore wind in the future.”

The Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm, which will be located 20 miles off the coast of Cromer in North Norfolk, is expected to have an installed capacity of 402MW. This equates to enough energy to power up to approximately 410,000 homes and reduces emissions of carbon dioxide by up to 19 million tonnes over its lifetime, providing 0.5 per cent of the UK’s overall annual electricity needs.
