On May 8, one of three offshore wind supply chain workshops for the Moray offshore wind farm was held. The workshops are organized by Scottish Enterprise and Highlands and Islands Enterprise on behalf of Moray Offshore Wind Limited (MORL).
Those attending the event could hear about the contracting strategy and meet key suppliers for the MORL’s offshore wind project.
Iain Entwhistle, Business Development Manager for Siemens Energy, who is working on future grid connection projects for offshore wind farms, spoke about Siemens’ power transmission division and opportunities that the Moray offshore wind project can bring to local businesses.
Works needed for the offshore connection system include offshore substation construction (jacket and topside), delivering cable systems, providing marine logistics, local accommodation, lifting equipment and many more.
