Heerema has successfully loaded the HVDC topside of Siemens’ HelWin beta platform onto a seagoing barge.
On Saturday, the HelWin beta topside was loaded onto the H-542 barge, operated by Heerema Marine Contractors, a sister division of Heerema Fabrication Group, which built the platform.
In October 2012, Heerema started the construction of the 10,200-ton HVDC topside at its Zwijndrecht yard, after the company won the contract from Siemens in June 2012. The jacket for the platform was built at Heerema’s Vlissingen yard, and was recently installed at its offshore site.
The HelWin bèta topside measures 98 meters in length, 42 meters in width and 28 meters in height, with a transmission capacity of 690 MW.
