The latest offshore wind support vessel to leave the CTruk production line in Essex made straight for Southampton and is currently on show at berth V25 at annual commercial marine exhibition and forum, Seawork.

Ocean Warrior, a brand new 18.5m advanced composite twin-hull CTruk 20T MPC was officially named during an informal ceremony at the event yesterday.

Ocean Warrior is the second CTruk 20T MPC for owner Scott Wharton of Ocean Transit Services. He signed the agreement for his first workboat, a 20T under the CWind boat share scheme named CWind Challenger, at Seawork last year and is understandably delighted to be back just a year later with his second wind farm service vessel on the pontoon.

Scott has owned numerous fishing craft over a 30-year career fishing the Bristol Channel and currently operates a fleet of five. He is now focusing on building an offshore wind support vessel fleet and is upbeat about the future, “In the longer term we want to be operating several wind farm boats so that we are well placed to meet future demand for offshore wind farm construction and O&M both in the UK and Europe. This is a very exciting start for us and we are keen to strengthen our relationships with both CWind and CTruk as we move forward.”

Commenting on the new features on Ocean Warrior he continued, “The increased speed and bollard pull from the Volvo D13 engines and more powerful FF45 Rolls-Royce waterjets will be invaluable in providing the level of service we’re aiming for. We just can’t wait to get the vessel out to work!”

This workboat is the second CTruk 20T MPC designed and built to Bureau Veritas (BV) S1 classification rules. Ocean Warrior also meets UK flag (MCA) MGN280 requirements for Category 1. Working in partnership with CWind, Ocean Warrior will return to CTruk’s base in Brightlingsea after Seawork to prepare for deployment to Germany.
