DP Energy has disclosed its plans for a tidal energy project off Fair Head in Northern Ireland, BBC informs.
The company will carry out public consultation before submitting the planning application for the construction of a 100 MW tidal array. DP Energy stated that it is still considering the technology that would be used in the project, and the company will choose a tidal turbine after it finds a suitable one.
The project is worth GBP 400 million and could provide clean electricity to around 70,000 households.
