Danish Yachts A/S, Skagen, Denmark, has launched its fifth innovative 24m fully carbon-fibre SWATH vessel in a little over 12 months, following the delivery of four offshore wind vessels to client ‘Odfjell Wind’ in 2013.

Notably, the fifth Danish Yachts’ SWATH, which operates in both Catamaran and SWATH mode thanks to its unique ballast system, has been further enhanced to reach new heights in safety and comfort standards for its crew and passengers.

The ‘second generation’ SWATH from Danish Yachts has seen an additional weight reduction of 15% compared to its original design, improving fuel efficiency, range, speed and stability on the water. A new wheelhouse configuration has been introduced to allow for a more complete 360 degree open vision for when operating out at sea and landing against the wind turbines.

The latest Danish Yachts’ SWATH, which is destined for E.ON, will now undergo her formal sea trials prior to handover. Patrik von Sydow, CEO of Danish Yachts explains: “We are very excited with the launch of our ‘second generation SWATH’, which we believe will exceed our clients expectations with regards to sea keeping and performance. We are pushing the boundaries of design, innovation, and advancing with carbon composite production techniques to improve safety standards of crew and passengers whilst out at sea on our vessels, and we will continue to do so.”

Danish Yachts have already begun build of a new 32m SWATH design for the Oil and Gas industry.
