Sweden, Ghana to Develop 1GW Wave Energy Project

Swede Energy has signed an agreement with TC Energy Ltd in Ghana to jointly develop the largest wave power project in the world. The project is situated outside the coast of Ghana and will be built in blocks with a total targeted installed capacity of 1000MW.

TC Energy Ltd is the holder of permits and rights needed for the project. Swede Energy together with TC Energy negotiated and signed a power purchase agreement with the Government of Ghana at the Beginning of this month.

Swede Energy and TC Energy has signed a memorandum of understanding with Swedish technology supplier Seabased in May 2014. The ambition is to start export of equipment from Sweden to Ghana before end of 2014.

When this project is operational 19 million people in Ghana will be partly provided by clean electricity from wave power with Swedish technology.

Swede Energy is aiming to increase the Swedish export and make Sweden known internationally as the no 1 supplier of wave power technology.
