SmartBay Ireland has announced that Mark Wemyss has joined the team as Operations and Technical Manager.
Mr Wemyss will manage the deployment and operation of ocean energy devices within the Galway Bay test site and will be responsible for the provision of technical, O&M support, advice to device developers, client liaison and for developing and implementing all test site procedures and protocols.
He has joined SmartBay Ireland having previously worked at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) where he was responsible for a wide range of marine operations, asset management and maintenance. He also has extensive experience in renewable energy and IT having gained previous experience in both sectors.
Mark holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Computing from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, a M.Sc. in Marine Resource Management from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh and a Ph.D. (also from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh), which developed a relational site appraisal model for the deployment of Marine Energy Convertors.
