Danish energy giant, Dong Energy, denied claims that it is in the process of selling its stake in the offshore installation company A2SEA, but added that they would consider offers for it.

In an interview for the Danish Newspaper Børsen, Samuel Leupold, executive vice president of Dong Energy, said: “If anyone says that they can create more value in this company than we can they are welcome. Why should we not discuss it?”

In 2009, Dong bought A2SEA for DKK 700 million (EUR 93.89 million), while in 2010 it sold a 49 percent stake to the German company, Siemens.

Last month, A2SEA’s Sea Installer completed turbine installation at West of Duddon Sands, while its newest addition is about to head out to Westermost Rough to install 35 Siemens 6MW turbines.

Even though the company reported record profit of DKK 276.46 million (EUR 37.08 million) last year, Leupold said that it “does not hold the same strategic importance as it did before.”
