Yesterday morning (July 7), sea rescuers from List medevaced a severely injured worker from the heavy lift vessel Svanen, working at the Butendiek offshore wind farm.

Using the PIDDER LÜNG lifeboat, owned by the German Society for Sea Rescue (DGzRS), they brought him to the List harbour for further transport to a hospital.

The 60-year-old worker was seriously injured in an accident and had to be rushed to a hospital immediately. Due to thunderstorms, a helicopter could not fly to the Butendiek offshore wind construction site, west of the German island of Sylt in the North Sea. Therefore, the PIDDER LÜNG rescue vessel left with a voluntary maritime distress doctor onboard, immediately after the alert to the harbor.

The doctor and rescue crew, trained as paramedics, stabilized the man on their way to List. As the thunderstorm had stopped, a rescue helicopter was able to take him to the hospital in Heide.
