Maersk Training offers free places on Offshore Wind Training Course to local unemployed people in Tyneside, to help them take advantage of job opportunities in the thriving offshore wind energy market.

The courses are open to people who are unemployed, a UK resident for the past 3 years, aged 19 or over and live in the Tyneside region. Subsidised places are available for those that don’t qualify.

The range of educational programmes offered include the Level 1 Certificate in Becoming a Wind Turbine Technician (Onshore and Offshore) and Level 2 Diploma in Staying Safe in the Wind Industry (Onshore and Offshore).

More information on Open Day

Anyone who is interested in a career in the Wind industry or the above programmes is invited to attend an Open Day in order to register their interest and obtain more information on Thursday 4th September 2014 between 10.00am – 4.00pm at The Assembly Rooms, Fenkle Street, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, NE1 5XU.

Representatives from Maersk Training, Job Centre, National Careers Service, South Tyneside Council and various employers from within the Wind industry will be in attendance on the day.

David Bowyer, Head of Training & Education at Maersk Training said:

“Tough economic times mean unemployment rates are high in our region. Encouragingly, the offshore and wind energy sectors are expanding at a very fast pace, so there are great opportunities out there for people seeking employment. We are committed to helping those who are less financially able, improve their prospects, by gaining a valued qualification.”

Anyone who is interested or who would like to attend the Open Day on 4th September, should contact the Course Bookings team at Maersk Training for further details as soon as possible.
