InterMoor Marine Services Ltd. engineers based in their Aberdeen office have completed design and installation of sea fastenings for sea transportation of suction piles and other project equipment.

The 7.5 metre diameter suction piles weighed 180 Tonnes with a height of 13 metres. Sea fastening design was a critical requirement as the piles were required to be transported offshore, and subsequently installed, from a vertical position on the construction vessel deck. Engineering activities included all dynamic analysis of loads due to vessel motion and development of a grillage design which allowed sea fastenings to be optimised for ease of removal offshore prior to installation.

The suction piles were successfully installed offshore by InterMoor as part of a complete mooring project.
