DNV GL will soon hold one-day courses in Germany and Poland for offshore wind industry professionals who wish to acquire a comprehensive overview of the subject and to have the latest technology and issues clearly explained.

Offshore wind resource and energy yield, wind turbine and support structure technology, installation logistics and operational activities will be covered, together with overviews of the development process and contracting strategies.

The “Offshore Wind Energy Training Seminar” organized in Germany will take place on November 20 in Hamburg and the one in Poland will be held on December 3 in Gdynia. DNV GL assumes that attendees will have a technical background, but no specific offshore wind engineering knowledge is required.

The company will bring to the course the knowledge and understanding gained through this unique exposure of developing offshore wind technology and delivering support services for project development.

DNV GL has been involved in offshore wind energy since 1984 and has had a dedicated offshore wind team since 2000. The team has grown steadily in size and experience encompassing most of the technical disciplines involved in offshore wind farms: wind turbine technology; wind farm layout design; wind and energy analysis; marine civils; electrical engineering; installation and operation and maintenance (O&M).

Furthermore, DNV GL’s global offshore wind advisory service has experience extending to analyses in practically all oceans of the world. The company’s offshore wind advisory services include substantial volumes of site finding work; FEED (Front End Engineering Design) studies; bankable energy yield analyses; full due diligence analysis; logistics optimisation for installation and O&M strategies and market analysis – all benefitting from powerful internal databases and suites of analysis tools.
