Able UK’s plans for offshore renewable energy port hit another hurdle, writes Hull Daily Mail.
According to Associated British Ports (ABP), the port plans would reduce UK’s ability to react in the case of war.
They believe the Able Marine Energy Park (AMEP) development would not leave enough room for Port of Immingham to respond in “cataclysmic” situation.
The 906 –acre project that could create up to 4,000 jobs has constantly been rejected by ABP. They wanted to reduce the overall quay length from 1,279 meters to 995 meters.
ABP’s chief executive James Cooper said: “Able can pursue its stated objectives through less quay, broadly the same amount of land, and we are able to pursue substantially the majority of what we are seeking to achieve through the IWDJ on the same basis.”
