Welsh companies are currently benefiting from heavily funded places on Safety Technology’s RenewableUK and Global Wind Organisation (GWO) accredited Work at Height safety training.

The funding comes from the Welsh Government through their Sector Priorities Fund Pilot supported by the European Social Fund, as part of Energy & Utility Skills’ Low Carbon Energy and Marine Power Institute.

This week saw more candidates from Welsh companies utilise the funding to attain their certificates in RenewableUK/GWO Work at Height and Rescue from Safety Technology’s South Wales based training facility.

Marc Alonzi, one of the funded candidates said of the funding and its importance; “As a Welsh based company operating solely within the Welsh Wind Energy sector it’s great to see money being put into this industry. The safety of our workforce is paramount, so we jumped at the chance of getting funding for this industry recognised training from Safety Technology.”

Marc works for Welsh based Wind Energy development company, Pennant Walters and provides site management and reporting services for some of the country’s largest onshore wind farms.

Safety Technology are able to offer this funding (70% for SMEs and 30% for companies with over 250 employees), after they were selected as the official provider for Work at Height training for the Low Carbon Energy and Marine Power Institute earlier this year.

Funded places on their two day RenewableUK and GWO approved Work at Height training, and 1 day refresher courses, will continue until the end of the year and can be delivered from both of their training centres in North and South Wales.
