DNV GL (formerly KEMA) has signed an agreement with TenneT for the renovation, rental and occupation of the former head office of TenneT in Business Park Arnhems Buiten.

The building will be renovated to become one of the most sustainable offices in the Netherlands. The location is expected to be opened in the third quarter of next year. It will be the new headquarters of DNV GL Energy, which employs 2,500 energy experts worldwide, and DNV GL’s largest office in the Netherlands.

The new location will bring about 400 of DNV GL’s employees under a single roof who are now located across more than 12 buildings in Business Park Arnhems Buiten. “The new working environment incorporates staff from our advisory services, research & innovation, some of our smaller laboratories and our global energy headquarters, and will facilitate collaboration and connection among our energy experts. I believe that our new head office will provide us with a more innovative and greener workplace,” said David Walker, CEO DNV GL-Energy .

The new location contains about 10.000m2 of office and laboratory space. The building will have an A class energy label, by implementing – amongst other things – a geothermal energy storage system, solar panels, HR+++ glass and a very efficient heating and cooling system. The KEMA Laboratories for medium to ultra-high voltage testing, also part of DNV GL, and located nearby, will not be migrated.

DNV GL’s investment in a new sustainable head office in Arnhem, besides the EUR 70 million investment in its KEMA ‘Superlab’ in Arnhem that will be completed in 2016, demonstrate DNV GL’s commitment to Energy and the development of business in Arnhem and the Netherlands.
