With United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) high-level climate talks scheduled to be held next month in Lima, Peru, the country hosting the meeting has already set its goal to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels and shift to renewable energy as much as possible.

Last year, Peru was powered half by oil and gas and half by hydroelectric dams. However, according Bloomberg, Peruvian Energy Minister Eleodoro Mayorga said that the country’s energy mix can be made of up to 60% renewable power, such as wind energy and other renewable sources.

In this light, let us recall the news from this August , saying that the U.S. company Atmocean is working on its plan to install a commercial wave energy plant in Peru.

The company decided to take this move due to very suitable weather conditions off the Peruvian coast, specifically off Lima, which guarantee more efficient wave energy generation.
