On 18 September the last TP was installed in the 288MW Butendiek offshore wind farm, located 32km west of the isle of Sylt covering an area of 33km2.
At the same time the installation of the first of the in total 80 Siemens type SWT 3.6 -1 20 turbines started. The installation is being performed by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier’s installation vessel Bold Tern which carries 8 sets of turbines at the time from the harbour of to the site. Upon completion, expected mid 2015, these 80 turbines will be providing enough green electricity to around 360,000 German households.
The wind farm is a project by Butendiek GmbH S Co. KG. and is being developed by wpd.
