Seawork Asia Ends with Success

Seawork Asia, held in the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition ended successfully on November 6.

The exhibition attracted 68 exhibitors from 12 countries and over 120 well-known brands were exhibited. UK Trade and Investment representative, Stewart Gorman, commented that Seawork Asia was of a high standard, in part due to the experience co-organisers had gained from the Seawork International, now in its 18th year.

He added that he believes the events will grow and achieve great success in the future.

Just under 5000 people attended from China and around the world. Some of the local organisations that had a presence included; The China Shipbuilding Engineering Society, the State Department of Transportation Maritime Administration. After visiting the exhibition, Mr. Huang Pingtao from the China Shipbuilding Engineering Society, commented that the work boat sector was highly important for the country’s future.

Mr. Li Shixin, Deputy Director of the State Department of Transportation Maritime Bureau, said that Seawork Asia is beneficial to the industry because it will help demonstrate new technology and exchange ideas. Other visitors who attended Seawork Asia reflected the quality of the exhibition included Director of the Integrated Development Planning Division for the Chinese Ministry of Transport, Mr. Liu Xin.

Mr. Zhao Shiqiang, Deputy General Manager of Orem Ship Industry (Dalian) Co., Ltd. said that Seawork Asia is an important platform for the workboat market because it displays latest products and innovative technology. He went on to say he had talked to many industry opinion leaders and that his company will definitely be exhibiting in 2016.

Held on the first day, the Seawork Asia Forum proved an important part of the event with over 200 professional delegates attending. The main content of the forum related to demand analysis from different parts of the Chinese government and new technology and developments within the ship building and workboat industry.

Director of Ship Management at the Ministry of Logistical Equipment China Sea Police, Mr. Zhou Xiaolu, in his presentation said that the future of the work boat market in China and the region has great potential. He commented that Seawork Asia had been held at just the right time.

Director of the Business Council of the Shanghai Sun Jiarong International Trade then stated that he hoped domestic and foreign enterprises through the Seawork Asia platform would create broad and in-depth exchanges and cooperation.

The next Seawork Asia exhibition will take place in Shanghai from 1-3 November 2016.
